House Charlotte Process

How the program works

Banks apply for the program on behalf of qualified buyers. To find out if you are qualified, contact an approved lender or you can Apply Online using our secure website.

The selected house must be located in one of the approved Charlotte Neighborhood Statistical Areas (NSAs). Each Charlotte neighborhood is grouped in an NSA, and builders do not use the same neighborhood names as the NSA listing. Buyers may contact us at 704-965-3319 to see if a property address qualifies for the House Charlotte Program.

Once you have found a house in the appropriate NSA, you will need to apply for the HouseCharlotte program. You also must attend a homebuyers training course and counseling in which we can set up for you at your request.

The HouseCharlotte Loan Coordinator will email the requester, typically the Buyer’s Realtor, when the inspection is ordered; notifying them of which Inspector should be contacted for scheduling. If the property does not pass inspection the requester and the lender will be contacted via email reference to re-inspection.

The HouseCharlotte loan funds will not be released until the property either passes inspection or receives a Certificate of Occupancy if new construction.

When the HouseCharlotte funds are ready House Charlotte will notify the Lender and the Buyer’s Realtor via email. The check will need to be picked up at City of Charlotte Neighborhood & Business Services office, 600 E. Trade Street, Charlotte, NC 28205.
